One of laptop player from high tech land, Japan, Fujitsu now becoming the third hard-disk maker that using 500GB capacity.
Fujitsu make this hard drive with combining three disk platters — the magnetically coated disks on which data is stored — each with a 170GB capacity inside the drive. With this technology (third platter), the hard drive become more thick in about 3 milimeters compare to standard laptop drives, which just two platters and are 9.5 milimeters thick.
Fujitsu will begin selling its 2.5-inch drive in May. It will have a SATA interface and can transfer data at up to 300MBps. The average seek time for reading data on the 4,200-rpm drive is 12 milliseconds and 14 milliseconds for writing data. Fujitsu didn’t announce pricing.
